There is a Yahoogroup for Helene Hanff in which Steve was a "member" when I first joined many years ago. Turns out that the reporter was an imposter Borders removed all books from the shelves.Īccidentally hit the enter button before I finished and edited last message. (No slander or libel here.there are dozens of witnesses.) He also nearly convinced Borders books to put his books on his shelves when he claimed a NY Times reporter would be interviewing him there about the book. No wonder everything he writes gets published! Most recently, the man has claimed that Isabel Allende reviewed his book.and that the book was shortlisted for the Pulitzer. And in Masterson's book on science fiction market listings, he's actually listed as the president of Cohort Press. Even the publisher of most of his books (Cohort Press) turns out to be a vanity press that has the same Florida phone number as he does. All research on the awards will lead you to websites where Mr. Pastore has claimed to have won don't exist. Has Kenkwa not done any research on this guy? All the awards Mr. I notice that Kenkwa has known him for that long. Pastore has been at this scamming the public thing for at least ten years.

His Wikipedia article is in the state of being dismantled because the Wikipedia researchers haven't been able to verify a single thing Stevie has claimed. I've known Steve for about 10 yrs now, and he is quite an expert on various authors, and has quite a collection of first editions of authors like Sinclair Lewis, HArdy, etc. I am currently reading his newest book, Never on these Shores, which is quite interesting for those who like WWII type novels. Steve and I seemed to think that the book were taken by one of the close friends of HH before the rest of the collection was donated to the university. It has been a mystery of what actually happened to those books. Strangely enough, if you notice the list in his book, there is no mention of any of the books bought from 84 CCR (or those listed in the book). He also has other ephemera in regards to Helene and 84, Charing Cross. What Steve has on display at Salve Regina is his collection of the books that Helene wrote.

Her library went to one of the universities in NYC, which I think was Columbia University. Actually Steve does not own the books listed in his Library of Helene Hanff.
